Oak and Oscar’s Third Annual Chili Cookout
Gotta love a good reason to hang….
This past weekend, Chase and the team over at Oak and Oscar (Greg and Nathan) hosted their third annual Chili Cook Off at their HQ here in downtown Chicago.
It was a great opportunity to come together with other Owners and friends of the brand, as well as some of their families. One of the things I love about Oak and Oscar is the community of Owners and all the opportunities to come together and celebrate watches. It was great to see more families involved, including wives and their kiddos. I had a couple of fun conversations with Chase’s son about an upcoming summer of bluegill fishing, and I can’t wait to see how it goes!
Our family loves a good batch of chili, but I was unsure my standby recipe would have a chance, so I thought we might try something new. So my son and I whipped up a batch of chili and cornbread, hoping our new recipe might win the top prize. We relied heavily on the Kinder brand spiced packet and thought our fun and unique name would be “Kinder Care”. The cornbread was the real hit, and luckily everyone who ate our chili survived. The winning chili went to the now three time champion, Joe, with his “3 Peat” and most creative name went to Greg.
Not to go home empty handed, Chase was kind enough to allow us to do a bit of shopping, and I went home with a couple of new bands for the Olmstead and Humboldt. I have to say the canvas straps are my favorite around. Also great to see a good friend go home with a nice new Humboldt! Can’t wait to see that white rubber strap with the white face in “summer mode”.
