GREENS AND STREAMS BLOG
A New Chapter Begins: Tippets and Tales Becomes Greens and Streams
Well, after 10 wonderful years as Tippets and Tales, I’m excited to announce a new chapter in our journey. Today, we officially announce our name change to Greens and Streams — a name that better reflects who we are now and where we’re headed.
When we first launched Tippets and Tales, we focused on writing about fly fishing and the experiences we share on our journeys and featuring the photos from our trips. Over the years, however, the content evolved. I realized more and more of the folks consuming this content (you), shared a passion not just for fly fishing but for golf. As I’ve expanded to incorporate these, the opportunity to use my woodworking tools to create golf accessories emerged. The combination of all these passions led me to the next step: redefining and establishing this brand.
Why the Name Change?
For years, Tippets and Tales captured the spirit of fly fishing, with the "tippet" symbolizing the delicate link between angler and fish, and the "tales" representing the stories shared afterward. But as our company grew to highlight more than just fly fishing—and as I’ve introduced golf and woodworking into our offerings—we felt the name no longer represented everything we had become.
Greens and Streams reflects the harmonious blending of golf and fly fishing and help clarify for folks unfamiliar with the intracacies of fly fishing, what this blog and brand represent.
Our New Woodworking Offerings
Over the last handful of years, I’ve begun designing and building different golf ball marker and pitch repair tools, as well as displays for such accessories. These made great gifts for friends, and donations to different golf outings, and as more folks reached out, it came to a point where it made sense to set up a shop. The shop set up allows me to add products easily, and it’ll be soon updated with some shirts and other custom options.
Marker Displays: Beautifully crafted displays for golf ball markers, allowing you to showcase your collection in style. Each piece is handcrafted from premium woods, with custom designs to fit your personal taste and golfing history.
Persimmon Markers: We are excited to introduce persimmon wood markers, made from the same classic wood used in vintage golf clubs. These unique markers bring a timeless, natural element to your game, crafted with care and attention to detail.
Persimmon Tools: Our woodworking artisans have also crafted persimmon tools, including divot repair tools and golf tees, celebrating the rich history of persimmon wood in golf. These pieces not only function beautifully but also pay homage to the heritage of the sport.
Custom Commissions: If you’re envisioning a one-of-a-kind golf accessory display that reflects your personal style, we offer custom commissions. We collaborate with you to create something truly special that will stand the test of time.
Looking Ahead
As we move forward as Greens and Streams, I’m thrilled to explore new opportunities to blend these worlds together in unique and meaningful ways. Whether you’re looking for a custom-crafted persimmon marker or persimmon tools for your next golf game, marker displays, cutting boards, or anything custom, I’m here to help make it happen.
Those of you who have been with us through this journey—thank you. Your support has helped shape this new chapter, and we’re excited to continue serving you in even more creative and exciting ways.
Stay tuned for new product releases, exclusive handcrafted pieces, and updates from the world of Greens and Streams!
Tight lines, straight drives, and artisanal beauty,

If you haven't seen these, you're missing out...
So I’ve been blessed to connect with Jeff Marsh via social media, and it’s been great to have some exchanges with him. Dude’s got an insane eye, and one heckuva photographer. He’s an inspiration to follow from a photography standpoint, as well as a standup, vulnerable guy willing to talk about the different crazy highs, and crazy lows some of us experience on the daily. I wish I had his courage to talk about the challenging things many men of our ages experience, but don’t ever bring up for fear of looking weak or less than.
One of my favorite things Jeff does are his fly overs. I love drone work, and love seeing courses from above. Such a cool angle, and different way of seeing all the undulations and topography of the course. And since he’s always doing it the perfect light as well, the courses are normally totally showing out, and look amazing.
If you haven’t given them a look yet, I highly encourage you to get over there asap and give them a watch.
And for more of his work, check out his amazing new photo journal!

Here’s one of my favorites of his, and a course I recently had the pleasure of walking - Sedge Valley.
I can't believe it's been 10 years...
Crazy to think how fast time flies. Feels like it was yesterday I was kicking around the idea of having a place to continue writing and publishing my photography. Here we are now, ten years later, and still kicking.
Over this past holiday weekend, Tippets and Tales ventured in to its second decade. When aTightLoop broke up, and Stuart and I went our own direction, we intended to keep going, using this blog as the vehicle. Very quickly I realized it wasn’t going to be that easy. Trying to convince someone else to write something, is very challenging and it turned out, we’d rather drink a couple of beers together, and chat, than discuss business and topics we could use as motivation for our writing. Early on, my focus was on all things fly fishing, and then slowly worked in some of aspects of my career and day job. But all in all I feel I struggled, and the posts prove it, to keep up the pace. And before you know it, any form of consistency was gone.
When we had our first child, the little bit of time I had to chase trout, disappeared. Motivation wained, and blog posts dropped. Whole weekend sized windows of opportunity, were replaced with hour sized windows. Day trips to wet wade in late summer chasing trout on foam hoppers, morphed in to weekends at home with the family chasing my princess. I still found time to go fishing and get out with the crew, but often found myself feeling the pull of the homestead, preferring to stay home with my ladies and my pup, than chasing the tug.
After my son was born, and my “me” time continued to whittle away, I found myself falling back in love with golf, romanticizing the old days when I lived out at the club and played 150+ rounds a year. As I fell back to golf, a desire to bring my camera out more often, with the intent of getting back in to shooting golf courses. You see, way back when I was playing all that golf, I was often carrying my old Canon 20D, shooting the early 2000’s version of Medinah Course 1 and Course 3. I loved those days, and thought there was now an added benefit of the variety of public courses I normally play. To maximize time, I was normally first on or last off, so not only did I get to see a lot of courses with tons of photo opportunities, but also had the benefit of the best light of the days. The idea of officially combining fly fishing and golf on the blog seemed to be a no brainer. Before I knew it, I was adding BB and F Co. golf ferrules in to my trout rod builds, and bringing a 3 weight to the course to chase gills.
As I’ve fallen in to more hobbies, what this site has to offer has also grown. With my woodworking, what began as making a bunch of stuff for myself and friends, became a bit of a side hustle. Being able to continue to develop a storefront for displays, tools, markers and more, has been a great new adventure, and really helped get the creative juices flowing again. I’m truly excited to continue growing the shop, and expanding the brand.
Thanks to all of you that have been a part of the journey and who helped keep me going early. Thanks to Stuart for pushing me/us to do this, and for those of you that randomly come to the site on the regular. I can't believe it, but still have some of the same RSS subscribers from the beginning!
I can’t make any promises that I’ll be doubling down on posts, but have been working on some stuff in the background, and have some good things on the horizon I believe. Working to have more things in the store soon, and a bit more content about all the different things I get my hands in to.
So thank you for being here, thank you for staying here, and here’s to all the good things to come!
